Simon Fraser University Learning Support Services

Writing and Academic Skills

SFU Student Learning Commons: “Your Writing and Academic Success Centre”

These virtual consultations take place on our platform, Writing Centre Online (or WCO). We generally have availability on the platform from 9am-9pm Monday to Friday, and weekend consultations are also available. You will need to create a profile on WCO the first time you register, but after that, logging in and booking yourself a consultation is a fairly quick process!

In a consultation, you can share your paper with a trained peer educator on a shared, editable "white board." You will be able to connect with audio, and video is optionally available as well. These consultations are booked for 30 or 60 minutes and are a great opportunity to receive additional support and feedback on your writing. You can use this service alongside Write Away, for example, by booking a consultation to discuss how to incorporate the feedback you received from the Write Away tutor.

EAL Programs (English as an Additional Language)

  • How To Argue Academically
